Kevin Buchanan started with the original 'Home Entertainment Inc.' as sales support
in 1977 while in high school. After graduating college with a BBA in finance, Kevin
became youngest store manager in HEI’s 25 year history. After four more years he was
promoted to the manager of HEI’s flagship store. In 1991 Kevin conceived, designed, and
created the Custom Installation Division of HEI.
Over the next five years his work was published on a national level by Audio Video Interiors
magazine and on a regional level by Texas Magazine. In 1996, Kevin started his own company
near the Galleria called Audio Video Interiors (no relation to the magazine). In 2002 his
work at AVI was published by Audio Video Interiors magazine.
After several years running AVI, Kevin felt that the Houston market segment filled by the
original Home Entertainment Inc. was not being served. So in 2005 he opened a custom/retail
store in the Woodlands and AVI became Home Entertainment Inc. Since opening in 2005, HEI
has been selected twice as one of the Top 40 Hybrids (Custom / Retail) Dealers in the
nation (2006 & 2007).
Kevin has a wealth of knowledge and 33+ years of experience in the Audio Video Industry. Kevin
is also recognized nationally as an innovator with new technologies like Media Servers. He is
regularly asked to participate on the design counsels of large AV manufacturers to provide input
on industry trends. Some of his unique specialties include but are not limited to media servers,
control systems and digital home theaters. He current serves on the TechHome board of the Consumer
Electronics Association (CEA), the PARA (Professional Audio Retailers Association) board, he is
involved with the Mentor Program of CEA, and has served as a judge in the Mark of Excellence Awards
program for CEA.
